About

At MakeBigParts, our mission is to deliver accurate, high-resolution parts at full scale—quickly and reliably.

Why we exist

MakeBigParts was founded in 2024 by 3D-printing veteran Chris Haid, building on more than a decade of innovation in additive manufacturing. Chris has developed automated desktop printers, expanded access to large-format machines, and led industrial 3D printing advancements at companies like Formlabs and Cincinnati Incorporated.

Despite major progress in the field, large-format 3D printing remained slow, complex, and out of reach for many. MakeBigParts was created to change that—by making full-scale, high-resolution 3D printing faster, more accessible, and more affordable than ever before.

Chris started his 3D printing journey at MIT, co-founding NVBOTS, where he built automated printers for schools. At Cincinnati Incorporated, he led the development of high-temp and metal 3D printers. Later at Formlabs, he helped bring industrial SLA and SLS printing to desktop users. Now, with MakeBigParts, Chris is focused on the next frontier: making big, detailed, affordable prints accessible to everyone.
