How does this work start to finish?

It's a 3-step process:

  1. You upload your CAD or STL file and share your project needs

  2. You’ll receive instant pricing or work with us on a custom quote

  3. Once approved, we handle the 3D printing, finishing, and shipping, and you receive ready-to-go parts.

Are there any limitations on size or material that I should know about?

Great question! We can 3D print parts up to 800 x 800 x 900 mm (~31.5 x 31.5 x 35.4″). Need something bigger? No problem, we specialize in joining parts into larger assemblies using mechanical joints like pins and grooves.

For the fastest turnaround, we recommend our Core Materials:

  • White Lightweight PLA

  • Black Standard PLA

  • Black Standard PETG

We can also print with most standard FFF/FDM materials—including specialty ones like Nylon or carbon fiber-filled filaments. Just note that non-core materials may require extra time and a Material Calibration Fee.

How long does it take to receive a final product?

For a single big part, turnaround is usually 1–2 weeks. Smaller parts often ship faster. Timelines vary based on the size and complexity of your job, and we’ll keep you in the loop throughout the process. Expedited service is available if you're on a tight deadline.

How small, or big, of a job can I request?

We specialize in big parts, but we’re happy to make small ones too. There’s no minimum job size. We recommend a minimum feature size > 1mm, but otherwise we can handle:

  • Individual small parts

  • Batches of small or large parts

  • Very large parts (even beyond our build volume)

My plans changed after I submitted my file; what should I do?

Email us at support@makebigparts.com as soon as you can. If we haven’t started production or planning, we’re happy to accommodate changes.

I have an idea for a prototype or part that I would like printed, but I don’t have a design file yet. Can you help with that?

Absolutely. While we don’t have an in-house designer, we’re happy to connect you with trusted third-party professionals who can bring your idea to life.

Do you offer returns?

Due to the custom nature of each print, we don’t offer returns. That said, product quality is a top priority—we want you to love your part. If something’s not right, email support@makebigparts.com, and we’ll make it right.

Where are you based?

We’re based just outside Boston in Arlington, MA (about 5 miles from the city). Our workshop isn’t open to visitors yet, but we hope to change that in the future.
